Ring ni kakero is the Super Nintendo adaptation of the first manga by Masami Kurumada, the author of Saint Seiya. Eleven-year-old Ryûji Takane is pushed into boxing by his sister Kiku. Although he does not like the sport, Ryûji integrates a school and will face great champions all over the world. Between Ryûji's boomerang hook, Kenzaki Jun's galactica magnum and French Napoleon's royal demon seed, the surrealist techniques of the game remain faithful to the manga.

Originally scheduled for 1995, due to smaller than expected orders and the downturn in the Super Nintendo market, the game was ultimately only sold as part of the Japanese download service Nintendo Power, starting in 1998.
